I met Joe several years ago through our connections with Rad Racing and last December, Joe and his wonderful family--wife Sarah, Paul (16), Pat (13), and Johnny (8)--spent their Christmas break in Belgium going to all the races. To prospective campers: I'm working hard on the camp roster, getting a feel for numbers and races. When I hear back from some riders, I'll have a clearer sense of the breakdown with regard to number of juniors, espoirs, and elites. I've spoken to most of the women interested in racing in Europe after US Nats (there are a lot of them) and all have agreed that finding their own set up is what will work the best. As I've said from the get-go, I'll make the final camp roster selection after Portland USGP's, on December 3, but I'll have a pretty good idea before that. I will try to inform and confirm...

Pulling stakes, bundling signage, and wadding up course tape long into the dark, drizzly USGP Jersey Sunday evening, I got to thinking (again) about how much work goes into putting on a big cyclocross race. So many good, hard-at-it folks chip in to the effort. I think most of the racers are aware of this effort because they’re busy too, cleaning up their bikes, packing them on to the next stop. And, I would bet that a good portion of the racers has put on a race or helped with a race themselves. So the acknowledgment and appreciation are there for sure.
