Camp details update
To prospective campers: I’m working hard on the camp roster, getting a feel for numbers and races. When I hear back from some riders, I’ll have a clearer sense of the breakdown with regard to number of juniors, espoirs, and elites. I’ve spoken to most of the women interested in racing in Europe after US Nats (there are a lot of them) and all have agreed that finding their own set up is what will work the best. As I’ve said from the get-go, I’ll make the final camp roster selection after Portland USGP’s, on December 3, but I’ll have a pretty good idea before that. I will try to inform and confirm with as many as I can so that riders can get their flights booked.
Regarding the races, as I negotiate with the organizers, the race schedule changes due to logistics and distances for travel. As of today, we’re going to not race Antwerp on Friday 21 December and instead race in Holland on Saturday 22 December (Huybergen) and then do a small national race on Sunday in Balegem. This will be the best preparation for the big World Cup on Wednesday 26 December in Hofstade. It will give riders two days to acclimate and flex time for travel hiccups, arriving on 20 December; it will offer the opportunity for our elites to do a smaller race; and it will give riders two days after the weekend to recover and be ready for Hofstade. Juniors will do 6 races and elites and espoirs 6 or 7 for the whole camp.
