Ravin’

Just back from Belgium where I met with Noel to make the final plans for the camp. (See revised race schedule on the site). Also helped out elites Jonathan Baker and Chris Jones Saturday at the Niel GVA. A very normal Niel parcours with tons of sapping mud. Most guys changing bikes 2x per lap and the pits, their usual controlled chaos. Jon B was going ok, around 30th when he hit a post with a lap to go and bashed his leg. Chris got in a good taste of euro mud while shaking out the legs. It was good see those guys out there fighting this weekend! The racing certainly was Belgian hard. 'Nough...

Weekly News Update: Nov 2 – 7

Jonathan Page (Northfield, N.H./Sunweb-Projob) and Jonathan Baker (Boulder, Colo./Vitamin Cottage) continued competition on the European cyclo-cross circuit on Nov. 4 at the Superprestige #2 in Belgium. Page finished 19th against some of the world’s best cyclo-cross athletes, 2:17 off the pace of event winner Sven Nys (BEL). Baker finished 29th, 7:04 back. The 2007 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Calendar continued with the Category-2 Chainbiter 9.0 in Farmington, Conn. on Saturday where Chris Jones (Redding, Calif./Nerac) covered the last few laps alone to take a solo victory in the elite...

Runnin’ em high–Runnin’ em low

Had a good chat with Sven yesterday about his 4th Koppenberg victory the day before. He always gets me thinking about the finer aspects of the game. For example, he said Bart was killing him on the slick-as-snot descent, taking all kinds of risks because he was running lower pressure and, therefore, could hook up better. Sven said he wanted to run higher pressure in his Rhino "Rheeno" 34's to hopefully make the difference on the climbs and the road sections. Weekly News Update: Oct 26 – Nov 1

Two Americans – Jonathan Page (Northfield, N.H./Sunweb-Projob) and Jonathan Baker (Boulder, Colo./Vitamin Cottage) – competed in the second round of the 2007 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup in Tabor, Czech Republic on Saturday. Page finished in 23rd place, 2:14 off the pace of winner Sven Nys (BEL), while Baker finished 41st. The third round of the 2007 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup is scheduled for Nov. 11 in the Dutch town of Pijnacker.
