Feeding Frenzy – Eckmann Diary
A room full of bike racers at meal time means a hungry pack. “When you see this house and how much food gets eaten, you think you’re in a zoo or at an eating contest,” explains Yannick Eckmann (Clif Bar Development Team) in his Diary Entry on Cyclingnews.com. “Everyday we get dinner served between six and seven o’clock. Els and her daughter Naomi come here around five o’clock to start to prepare the food for the whole crew.”
Not only is the racing aggressive in Belgium, but getting a good spot at the dinner table is as tough, “The best thing is then when the food is ready and on the table, Els yells through the house “DINNER!!!” and everybody comes rushing down to dinner so that they get a spot at the dinner table and so that they will still get dinner.”
Yannick is racing for the first time with EuroCrossCamp. He races as a Junior on the Clif Bar Development Team and lives in Boulder, Colorado. You’ll notice in the results, Yannick is not a USA rider, but a German rider. His family moved to Boulder several years ago, but he still rides under a German license.
